1 Adventure Filled Day for Teens on Oahu’s North Shore

We stayed at Alauni in Ko Olina, which meant we had to wake up early and get moving! We stopped at Starbucks and headed up the Intrastate, driving past Schofield Barracks. We made great time!

So start with a full Breakfast at Breakers Restaurant and Bar. Grab a table outside and chow down with the locals.

Breakfast at Breakers

You’ll need all that energy for kayaking with the sea turtles on a self guided tour. We kayaked up the Anahulu river with Sea and Board Sports Hawaii tours. These guys were great, easy to find, and had parking! A couple of sea turtles swam right up to the kayaks, pretty neat! If you’re more adventurous (and one of your teens isn’t a complete klutz), you could try stand-up paddle boarding.

And we're off! Kayaking the Anahulu in search of sea turtles.

Don't paddle into it!

Look! No you look! To many turtles!!!

After our 2 hour tour, we hopped into the rental car and headed up to Turtle Bay; usually you can catch a turtle sunning on the beach here.

Next stop, snorkeling at Shark’s Cove. This was awesome!!! We all tried out our new full face snorkel masks, and they worked like a charm!!

We used our underwater camera and the teens took a ton of fish picks.

Loving the full face snorkel mask!

These eels were creepy!!!

We used the outdoor showers at Shark’s cove to rinse off the salt water and then changed into dry clothes. Afterwards, we headed back into town for killer tacos at Killer Tacos, these were so YUM! The pork 'longboard burrito', a local favorite, is incredible. All my husband talks about is Killer Tacos and Duke’s (more on that later).

We finished off lunch at Matsumoto’s Shave Ice. The line might be long but it moves fast! Go full out Ichiban, with red beans and ice cream. I KNOW it sounds gross, but try it anyways; it's amazing. We all shared 1 big cup.

"Must try" shaved ice!!!

Next adventure, horseback riding on the beach!! We pre-booked with Haw
